An alternative to the Debt Payoff Planner app
Which product this page is about: Debt Payoff Planner, the app made by OxbowSoft LLC of Oregon, at debtpayoffplanner.com.[1] Several other apps use similar names, and nothing here describes them. This is also not our own debt payoff planner page, which describes Dang! Payoff.
Debt Payoff Planner is an app for iPhone, iPad and Android with a desktop web version, a free plan and a paid Pro plan, and it models more payment situations than we do.[2][3][4][5][6] If you want an app on your phone today, it is the stronger fit. What follows is for people weighing it against a browser-based planner.
What Debt Payoff Planner does well
- Phone apps: it is listed in the Apple App Store for iPhone and iPad and on Google Play, and it also has a desktop web version.[2][3][4]
- Payoff order: debt avalanche, debt snowball, or a custom order, and you can set up several custom orders to compare.[6]
- Payment timing: bills can be due monthly, biweekly or weekly, and the plan says when each is due and how much to pay.[6] Biweekly payments are listed among its Pro features.[4]
- Promotional rates are supported.[6]
- A tracking page for recording each payment against each debt.[6]
Price and access
Debt Payoff Planner has a free plan and a paid Pro plan, sold as an in-app subscription.[5][2] We do not quote a Pro price here, because its own website and its App Store listing state it differently; check the current price in your app store before choosing. Using it on both a phone and a computer is a Pro feature.[4]
Where Dang! Payoff is different
Dang! Payoff runs in the browser, so there is nothing to install; its iPhone app is coming soon and is not available yet. It models a monthly payment cycle, so if you are paid and pay biweekly, Debt Payoff Planner models that directly and we do not.
It keeps the decision small: every debt in a single plan, snowball or avalanche, an estimated debt-free date, and payments logged by hand. There is no bank connection to switch on: no bank login, manual entry. Monthly is $2.99, Yearly is $19.99 and Lifetime is $39, and every calculator on this site works with no account and no payment.
Choose Debt Payoff Planner if…
- you want an app from the App Store or Google Play today;
- you pay some debts biweekly or weekly and want the plan to follow that;
- you want to model a promotional rate or compare several custom orders.
Choose Dang! Payoff if…
- you would rather use a planner in a browser, on any computer or phone, without installing anything;
- you want snowball or avalanche with the trade-off shown on your own numbers, and nothing more to configure;
- you want to check the arithmetic before deciding: the calculators on this site show their assumptions and a month-by-month schedule.
Monthly and Yearly include a 7-day free trial. Lifetime is a one-time purchase with no trial. No bank login, ever.
